SMITH BILBROUGH & Co.
Lloyd’s Broker
A brief history
The company can trace its roots back to the 1860s. It was owned by the Managers of The London P&I Club and traded both as the in-house broking house for the Club and as a Lloyd’s broker. It became independent in 1951 following a management buyout and in the intervening years has acted for many of the current members of the International Group of P&I Clubs and their Member assureds.
More recently the company has extended its client base into other marine-related areas such as UK ports and terminals and maritime consultants.
Today
While the company continues to place a number of significant P&I Club contracts, its day-to-day focus is on providing business support and consultancy to those in the P&I and marine sectors. Our particular niche is relatively primary areas of coverage, which larger brokers typically shun or struggle to resource, where we provide tailored risk analysis and risk transfer solutions.
Service
Service is our byword; we are here to serve. We encourage our clients to use us as an internal resource where the particular skill sets of our directors can add value and provide support to your businesses.
